We are Samuel and Emily Mulder, husband and wife. Our goal is to document our journey of homeschooling our six children, exploring educational ideas and opportunities, challenging the status quo in education, and experimenting with novel curricula. Hopefully our thoughts, ideas, and discoveries will prove useful or even inspirational to you!
Who we are:
This is our family. We are not static. And we believe all people are dynamic, changing and growing if we embrace the challenge to learn from our experiences and hopefully continue to become better people.
Samuel has long had a passion for improving education. He studied artificial intelligence in graduate school and continues to research how the mind works.
Samuel is a person of many interests and hobbies. He has a passion for wildlife conservation and has studied photography so that he can document wildlife in their natural environments. An aquarium enthusiast, we currently have two large tanks of African cichlids. He also enjoys historical war-gaming (including the painting of miniatures), playing games with our son, reading history, mathematics, and science fiction, and the list goes on…
Emily Mulder, B.S. in Nursing. Wife, Mom, Empiricist.
Emily was home-schooled in northwest Montana from fourth grade through high-school in a log cabin without electricity or running water. She obtained a B.S. in nursing and worked as a nurse before marriage, including a year in Kenya volunteering as a nursing instructor.
Emily is constantly rethinking everything. She enjoys diving into learning. She has studied portrait photography in the last few years and achieved certification as a Certified Professional Photographer via image review and examination in 2011.
As of December, 2015 we have six kids, ages 12, 10, 7, 7, 6, and 5.
